Starting as an intern

We are always on the lookout for motivated interns. If you have already completed your bachelor’s degree at a university and have gained initial experience in the industry or even in a management consultancy, you can experience the Open Approach first-hand as part of an internship lasting at least 16 weeks.

As a fully-fledged team member, you will support us in carrying out analyses and research, evaluating customer interviews and surveys as well as customer workshops. We are convinced that you will quickly add value, which is why we offer attractive remuneration and a financial meal allowance.

Have you successfully completed your MBA or PhD and want to get started as a strategy consultant? Then apply as a consultant at IMP!

You are enthusiastic about business model development and innovation topics, have a high willingness to learn and perform and are characterized by a high level of comprehension and a structured way of working. If you also have one to three years of professional experience in strategy consulting or a comparable role in the industry, you can join us directly as a consultant. Together with experienced colleagues, you will drive customer projects forward right from the start and ensure the success of the project with your reliable and diligent way of working. As a Consultant, you will support the preparation, implementation and follow-up of workshops, research and analyze independently and conduct and evaluate (customer) interviews and surveys. You prepare your results for the decision-making process. You will also work closely with the customer and, if applicable, with external experts. Over time, you will take on more and more responsibility for sub-project tasks and continue to develop your methodological skills.

Your further development is important to us, which is why we offer you ongoing training opportunities on various topics and methods as well as in-house coaching. In addition to an attractive salary, you will also receive a financial meal allowance and a mobility budget as well as a JobRad.

Application

Selection process

If we are impressed by your application, we will invite you to a telephone interview. Here we can get a first feel for each other.

We will then invite you to our office in person and get to know you in a further interview. During the interview, you will also have the opportunity to impress us with your analytical and conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills using a presentation you have prepared in advance and a case study.

If you are successful in the second interview, you will then have a final interview with one of our Managing Partners for direct entry.

Decision

Shortly after your interviews, our HR manager will inform you of our decision. You will discuss your start at IMP with her and clarify any remaining questions.

For interns, there is no final interview with one of our Managing Partners; if everything goes well, you will receive a letter of acceptance directly after the second interview.

FAQs about applying and joining us

We can only give our best if we feel comfortable. That’s why we offer regular exchange formats, office lunches and team events. Of course, a visit to the Oktoberfest is a must.

Unlike traditional consultancies, you are not on site with the client from Monday to Thursday. Most of the time you work from our office and travel to the respective client for workshops.

We are always happy to receive your application for an internship or a permanent position in consulting, which you can submit via our application portal.

We want to ensure that you can continue to develop your skills. That’s why we offer you a range of internal training courses on various topics. In addition, you will receive continuous feedback, either from the respective project manager or in your regular development meetings. We also offer you coaching if required.

Our clients‘ needs and challenges are unique, so there are no standard projects. Projects can last three months or a whole year. Most projects are handled by two to three consultants.

You should plan at least four months for an internship with us, as this is the only way we can guarantee a steep learning curve and you will have the opportunity to get actively involved in customer projects.

Our Open Strategy approach would not work if we all had the same knowledge. We welcome talents from all disciplines! What is important to us is an analytical and conceptual mindset, a high willingness to learn and an openness to new topics and approaches.
