After completing his Master's degree, Benedikt worked in innovation management at a large consumer goods manufacturer. With the experience he gained there, he decided to switch to strategic management consulting. He joined Batten & Company as a senior consultant and is now a manager in the consultancy's leadership team. Through various projects and his personal interests, Benedikt has specialised in the areas of customer experience and organisational development. As part of the Marketing & Sales Organisation Practice, he can deepen this knowledge even further.

Theory becomes practice
I discovered my great passion for marketing and sales at the beginning of my Bachelor's degree at the University of Cologne. After my Master's degree, I wanted to put the theory I had learned into practice and decided to do a two-year trainee programme in the FMCG sector. After working in various departments such as Product Management, Market Research and Key Account Management, I started in Innovation Management. Here I was responsible for two product lines and also developed new concepts for the group of companies. Although I later switched to consulting, I have never regretted my decision to start my career in industry. I was able to learn a lot during this time and now know what really creates direct added value in my customers' operational business.
The search for change
After more than three and a half years in the industry, I felt the need to broaden my horizons once again. I wanted to get to know new sectors and, above all, have more time for strategic topics. I asked my friends who were working in consultancies at the time about their experiences and gained exciting insights into their everyday lives. I was right in my assumption: joining a management consultancy seemed to bring about the change I was hoping for! With Batten & Company, I found a consultancy that focused on my favourite topics and applied.
Arrived in management consulting
Due to my professional experience, I started as a Senior Consultant and had a lot of responsibility for my projects right from the start. The first customer was a globally operating DAX company, so there was little time to familiarise myself. But I quickly got carried away by my highly motivated colleagues and got used to this new way of working. I was pleasantly surprised to realise that not only was my project team very ambitious, but that the entire consultancy was bursting with energy. Favourable factors such as flat hierarchies, short decision-making processes and a steep learning curve are not just buzzwords that can be found in job advertisements. This year, I was promoted to manager and am now part of the management team at Batten & Company.
My daily motivation
In my two and a half years at Batten & Company, I have already worked for companies from a wide range of industries and have recently focussed in particular on the financial services sector. Here, for example, I have supported the restructuring of a department, optimised internal processes, analysed customer journeys and subsequently introduced new KPIs. We work very closely with our customers and usually advise the top management of the respective company. This not only shows how important our support is, but also that a great deal of trust is placed in us. For me as a consultant, these two aspects are what motivate me every day.
