"Whether it’s about designing workshops or carrying out projects, you can always contribute your own ideas, which are seen and appreciated by everyone at Sustainable."
Lisa Jeuck
During my studies in Economics, I actually always dreamed of an academic career path. After a stay abroad in Stockholm, this wish came true when I was able to publish a scientific paper in the field of environmental economics as a co-author after a year of work at the Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim. I was able to learn a lot during this time, but I also realized that I wanted a more dynamic working environment in the long term. At the same time, I couldn't imagine working in a company and continuing to contribute to the problems we have in our world. So I was looking for a job that would allow me to make the world a little bit better.
Until then, I only knew the traditional management consultancies, where I definitely didn’t want to work. It wasn’t until I did some Google searches that I discovered there were consulting firms that focus exclusively on sustainability. Sustainable AG Unternehmensberatung stood out to me in particular, which is why I applied there in early 2021 for an internship – I didn’t write any other applications at that time. After just my first week as an intern, I knew I could imagine a long-term future there. The warm welcome, the motivated and wonderful people, and the exciting clients and topics immediately showed me that I was in the right place.
During my time as an intern and working student, I was able to contribute to many exciting projects in the areas of greenhouse gas accounting and climate strategy development. The work was enjoyable from the start, and I dove into a world I didn’t even know existed before. I learned a lot in a short time and was already taking on responsibility in client projects as a working student. What I always liked was how much freedom there is at Sustainable. Whether it’s designing workshops or carrying out projects, you are always encouraged to contribute your own ideas, which are seen and valued by everyone at Sustainable. Furthermore, there are many other freedoms, such as flexibility with working hours or locations. The flat hierarchies and the proximity to leadership also contribute to the feeling of being very comfortable.
With my permanent position as a Junior Consultant, I was able to take on a new role in projects. I began managing more and more projects and focusing on my favorite topics. This phase was also a time when Sustainable grew significantly. We were suddenly no longer 30 people in one location in Munich but doubled in size, spread across three locations.
By now, I am a consultant and have met over 80 new people since I started in 2021. Sustainable AG Unternehmensberatung has changed with the growth, but it has remained true to its values. And the most important thing: The people who make Sustainable unique as an organization continue to be at the forefront. Over the past 2.5 years, I have made some great friendships that have greatly enriched my work life. As a consultant, I now have the opportunity to develop my own service, and I’m really looking forward to the new topics and projects that will come with it.
