'Whether it's designing workshops or carrying out projects, you can contribute your own ideas anytime and anywhere, and everyone at sustainable welcomes and appreciates these.'

During my studies in Economics, I actually always dreamed of an academic career path. After a stay abroad in Stockholm, this wish came true when I was able to publish a scientific paper in the field of environmental economics as a co-author after a year of work at the Center for European Economic Research in Mannheim. I was able to learn a lot during this time, but I also realized that I wanted a more dynamic working environment in the long term. At the same time, I couldn't imagine working in a company and continuing to contribute to the problems we have in our world. So I was looking for a job that would allow me to make the world a little bit better.
Up to that point, I only knew about traditional management consultancies, which I definitely didn't want to work for. It wasn't until I did a few Google searches that I found out that there are also management consultancies that focus exclusively on sustainability. I was particularly impressed by sustainable, which is why I applied for an internship there at the beginning of 2021 - I didn't write any other application at the time. After my first week as an intern, it was already clear to me that I could imagine a longer-term future there. The warm welcome, the motivated and great people and the exciting customers and topics showed me right from the start that I was in the right place.
During my time as an intern and working student, I was able to contribute to the implementation of many exciting projects in the field of greenhouse gas balancing and climate strategy development. I enjoyed the work right from the start and immersed myself in a world I had no idea existed. I learned a lot in a short space of time and was able to take on responsibility in customer projects as a working student. At the same time, I always liked how much freedom you have on a sustainable basis. Whether it's designing workshops or carrying out projects, you can contribute your own ideas anytime and anywhere, and everyone at sustainable welcomes and appreciates these. You also have a lot of freedom in terms of working hours and locations, for example. The flat hierarchies and approachability of the managers also ensure that you feel very comfortable.
With my permanent position as a Junior Consultant, I was also able to take on a new role in the projects. I was able to accompany more and more projects as a project manager and focus on my favorite topics. This phase was also a time when sustainable grew considerably. We were suddenly no longer 30 people at one location in Munich, but twice as many people spread across three locations.
I am now a consultant and have seen over 80 new people join since I started in 2021. sustainable has changed as a result of its growth, but has always remained true to its own values. And most importantly, the people who make sustainable unique as an organization are still at the forefront. Over the last 2.5 years, I've made some great friends there, who enrich my day-to-day work extremely. As a consultant, I now have the opportunity to develop my own service and I'm really looking forward to the new topics and projects that will come with it.
