After completing my Master's degree in Business Administration at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, my goal was to find an employer that would actively contribute to solving key social challenges. My path first led me to Peru, where I worked as a project developer for an environmental NGO. It was there that I realized how much I wanted to get involved in sustainable issues. Back in Germany, I came across sustainable again - a company that I already knew through like-minded fellow students and friends.
My start at sustainable initially began with an internship in Munich - but I quickly realized that this is where I see my future career prospects. The atmosphere in the small team, the variety of topics and the opportunity to play an active role in shaping the company inspired me right from the start. In the first few months, I was able to work on various projects - from balancing greenhouse gas emissions to developing sustainability strategies. It wasn't easy to get into the field of sustainability back then, as the topic didn't yet have the corporate relevance it has today and jobs were therefore few and far between. Nevertheless, sustainable offered me a position as a Junior Consultant, which I was delighted to accept.
Since then, every day has brought new challenges and not a day goes by without me learning something new. The teamwork and the common goal of achieving a positive impact motivate me every day. I quickly focused on the areas of climate and was able to continuously expand my skills. Over the years, I first became a Consultant, then a Senior Consultant and finally, in 2024, a Senior Manager. I grew with the content and therefore with the responsibility. Year after year, I had a good feeling about taking on more responsibility. With the increasing relevance of the topics but also the simultaneous growing importance of creating a common place to work, we decided to set up a location in Berlin at sustainable, which I have now been supporting as location manager since 2022. The location is now established, offers new colleagues a great working environment and is popular with applicants.
Last year, I was given the opportunity to set up my own team focusing on Circular Economy & Climate Governance. This has broadened the range of topics at sustainable. I see these two areas as important drivers for a sustainable economy, especially for achieving our global climate goals. As a Senior Manager, I now have the opportunity to actively drive the company's vision and bring about positive change.
My journey from intern to manager has not been easy, but it has been worth every step. At sustainable, I have not only found an employer, but also a community of like-minded people who are passionate about sustainability. I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead and to continuing to contribute to a more sustainable future.
